The Moth Presents: A Point of Beauty (Including Grace's Story!)

I am beyond proud to announce that the Moth’s latest anthology is released today (March 19, 2024) and my story is included!

A Point of Beauty: True Stories of Holding On and Letting Go is the Moth’s latest anthology of true stories, adapted for the written page, about finding real beauty in the moments when our lives changed forever—for better or worse. I am so thrilled to be featured alongside these incredible storytellers!

This really is a dream come true for me; I hope you’ll pick up your copy wherever books are sold!

3 Years Ago Tonight, We Had the Dance Party to Say Goodbye to Grace. Listen to the songs here.

Three years ago, we had a dance party to say goodbye to Grace Pearl.

I talked about this on The Moth (10:55 point). I asked Jim how he wanted to say goodbye to Grace and he said he wanted to make a playlist of songs he’d always wanted to teach her about and play them for us to dance to. We put on our pajamas, lit some candles, and danced to the songs in the dark, late at night.

Every year we listen to this on the anniversary. We get messages from friends all over saying they’ve joined us in this, and we appreciate it so much. It helps us feel less alone, and like Grace is not forgotten.

We will be listening with Hannah (who is named after Grace) and reflecting. Having Hannah this year has made this anniversary season both harder and easier. Obviously, it’s wonderful to finally have a child after 6 years of trying and loss, but just like having a child doesn’t cure infertility, it also doesn’t cure grief and loss. I told a friend that in some ways I feel like Hannah helps me understand even more what I lost with Grace, and makes the grief more acute. It’s a strange thing.

We’d love to have you join in listening to Grace’s playlist with us tonight, and a light a candle for her if you’d like. The playlist and list of songs is here, and you can read about why the songs were chosen here, in Jim’s words.

Our Story Will Be On The Moth Podcast Tomorrow (11/2/18)

I am thrilled to announce that my Moth story from the 10/18/18 show in Boston will be part of the November 2nd podcast (this coming Friday).

I will share the link again when it is released on Friday, but for people that aren’t already subscribers, you can learn more about the podcast and where to subscribe here:

Sharing our story on The Moth was truly an honor for me.

I feel so urgently and strongly about sharing the reality of what has faced Jim and me (as well as so many others that do not have the ability to share so publicly for a variety of reasons).

It’s been a privilege to share Grace’s story, and I’m so appreciative to The Moth for the opportunity, and to Boston for the warm reception.

I hope you’ll listen.

This will be my first time sharing in front of so many people and I’m nervous, but grateful for the opportunity to share our story.

I’ll tweet as much as I can about it too!
